Skin and Hair-Improving

Skin- and hair-supporting refers to substances and treatments that are used to improve the health of the skin. Common treatments for different skin and hair problems include:

• Acne – Acne can be treated with topical medications containing ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and retinoids. In severe cases, oral medications such as antibiotics or isotretinoin may be prescribed.
• Eczema – Eczema can be treated with topical corticosteroids, moisturizers, and antihistamines. In severe cases, oral medications such as immunosuppressants may be prescribed.
• Dandruff – Dandruff can be treated with anti-dandruff shampoos containing ingredients such as selenium sulfide, ketoconazole, or zinc pyrithione.
• Hair loss – Hair loss can be treated with medications such as minoxidil and finasteride, hair transplantation surgery, or low-level laser therapy.
• Rosacea – Rosacea can be treated with topical medications containing ingredients such as azelaic acid, metronidazole, or ivermectin. In severe cases, oral antibiotics may be prescribed.
• Psoriasis – Psoriasis can be treated with topical corticosteroids, vitamin D analogues, and retinoids. In severe cases, oral medications such as immunosuppressants may be prescribed.
• Dry skin – Dry skin can be treated with moisturizers, humectants, and emollients. In severe cases, prescription-strength moisturizers or topical corticosteroids may be prescribed.

Antioxidants, proteins, and vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, B5, B7 (biotin), and zinc are often used in personal care products to improve skin and hair health as well.
